If Your Camper, Boat or Utility Trailer Fails You,
It Could Put You In A Very Dangerous Or Inconvenient Spot
Although vacation time may seem far away it´s never too early to get prepared for it. Of course we recommend a pre-trip check out on your vehicle but just as important is the vessel that you may be towing. If your camper, boat or utility trailer fails you, it could put you in a very dangerous or inconvenient spot to say the least. To help assure a safe and easy trip we suggest that you check the following items:
CAMPING TRAILERS: wheel bearings, tire condition, tire pressure, trailer brakes, all wiring, lights, hitch, safety chains, generator, propane systems, propane accessories, propane leak detectors, roof leaks, all holding tanks, water systems and spare tire.
BOAT TRAILERS: wheel bearings, tire condition, tire pressure, trailer brakes, check spare tire, wiring, lights, winch, winch cable, boat tie down straps, hitch and safety chains and spare tire. And unplug your trailer electrical connector before backing into the water!
UTILITY TRAILERS: wheel bearing, tire condition, tire pressure, torque wheel lugs, check spare tire, electrical, lights and hitch. Also be sure to have sufficient tarps, tie downs and straps.
BEFORE TOWING ANYTHING you should always check for proper licensing and insurance. You should also make sure that you have a lug wrench and jack that fit the vessel you are towing. An emergency road side kit, extra light bulbs, and fuses may come in handy. A few basic pre trip checks will allow time for proper repairs if needed and give you the piece of mind needed for a safe, relaxing trip.
