TWO TIRE MYTHS

Although We Are Not Tire Specialists, At A Street We Are Automobile Safety Experts

There are thousands of different tires on the market for numerous applications and conditions. You should always consult a tire specialist when purchasing tires. The particular make and model of your vehicle and your personal driving habits have to be considered to attain optimum performance and safety from your tires.

Although we are not tire specialists, at A Street we are automobile safety experts. With this in mind I would like to dispel two backyard myths about tire pressure.

The first myth is that over inflating a tire will ultimately allow better fuel mileage due to decreased rolling resistance.

The second myth is that decreased tire inflation pressure will ultimately allow better traction on snow, ice and mud.

It's possible that under very special circumstances parts of both myths may be true but we don´t recommend finding out. On the side wall of every tire there is a traction rating, load rating and inflation pressure. All tire manufactures have stringently tested their tires for inflation pressure and traction conditions under which the tires will perform safety. Altering the duty for which the tire is rated for, or the inflation pressure can only lead to a compromise of your safety. When it comes to tires stay out of the backyard and go to a reputable tire specialist, your safety really is riding on it!
We welcome your feedback on these features.
