If you have a sun roof or teetop in your vehicle, here is a Tech Tip that might make
the Oregon winter more bearable than unexpectedly sitting on a wet seat. Take a liberal
amount of vaseline petroleum jelly and apply it to the weather strip sealing areas
on your sun roof or teetop. After coating the areas, close the panels and wipe off
the excess vaseline.
Of course the long term low maintenance option for leak repairs is replacing the weather
strip seals, but vaseline will get you by until you can replace them.
A word of caution, as the weather warms up any excess vaseline may want to melt and
could possibly stain the interior of your vehicle. Make sure that you wipe off any
excess vaseline before it melts.
