DON´T WAIT FOR IT TO BREAK!
MAJOR SYSTEMS REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE

Changing it out after enough 1,000’s of miles of use
makes great maintenance sense

With the rising cost of new vehicles, it's no secret that people are keeping their vehicles longer and putting on a lot more miles before trading them. Of course, older high mileage vehicles require more maintenance to uphold maximum reliability.

Even if the vehicle manufacturer's maintenance schedule is followed to the letter, there are some key items not mentioned in higher mileage. Some components look, sound and feel just fine to even a trained technician, right up to the moment that they suddenly fail. The following is a list of these components and the mileage at which A Street recommends that they be replaced to maintain maximum reliability.

Water pumps at 80,000 miles
Accessory drive belt tensioners and idlers at 90,000 miles
Electric fuel pumps at 100,000 miles
Manual fuel pumps at 80,000 miles
Alternators at 100,000 miles
Driveline u-joints at 100,000 miles
Timing chains with nylon or fiber gears at 100,000 miles
Sealed wheel bearings at 100,000 miles
Radiators at 100,000miles

The above components are often overlooked because they can be costly to replace and will often go well over 100,000 miles before failing.

Airlines rely on scheduled component replacement to keep their planes in the air. Replacing key components before they fail is also the only way to assure maximum reliability from your automobile in all weather.
