RISING TO THE TOP

No Matter How Oil Gets On The Road Surface
It Spells Extreme Danger For All Drivers

It doesn´t take a scientist to figure out that if you mix oil and water the oil will always rise to the top. This is exactly what happens on our roads and highways when it rains after a long dry period like we had this summer. Oil enters the roads surface by two primary ways: automobile oil leakage and asphalt oil seepage. The biggest cause of road oil is from leaking automobiles.

All vehicles leak oil, most leakage is minute and undetectable such as newer vehicles and vehicles in good mechanical repair. Vehicles in poor mechanical repair can leak a lot of oil on to the roads surface as they drive. Oil will also enter the roads surface by seepage from the asphalt. Heat will allow some of the natural oil in the asphalt to rise to the top. This is especially true in newly laid asphalt.

No matter how oil gets on the road surface it spells extreme danger for all drivers. Use caution when it rains after a dry spell. Keeping a safe distance and speed are imperative to your safety under these road conditions. If your vehicle has substantial oil leaks, please help decrease the driving danger. Get the leaks repaired or don´t drive the vehicle. Its every motorists responsibility to keep our roads as safe as possible.
