Infant And Child Safety Seats Come With A Special Shoulder Harness Seat Belt Clip
Traveling with infants in air bag equipped vehicles has created quite a scare recently. By now it should be public knowledge that you should never let a small child ride in the front of an air bag equipped vehicle. In the heat of all the air bag scare there is a very practical child safety issue that is too often overlooked.
Infant and child safety seats come with a special shoulder harness seat belt clip. Unless this safety clip is used and installed properly the safety seat may be completely useless to the child in the event of an accident. Too often people buy equipment without reading the instructions and implementing the proper procedures.
If you are unsure of what a shoulder belt safety clip looks like see figure 1 below. Most child safety seats have the safety clip installation instructions affixed right into the plastic on the back or side of the seat. This is also where the clip is often located when you purchase the seat. If your safety seat doesn't have the imprinted directions, then look in the instruction booklet. If you are not sure how to correctly install your child safety seat just call us for an appointment. We will be glad to show you how to provide a safe ride for your children.
